So, they’ve finally done it – you can now be served by Robots at MK resataurants in Thailand!
We’ve all done jobs that could be done by a robot but now the idea is becoming a reality. Whilst the friendly machine that I met today cannot yet take an order of even give you a plate, part of one of the world’s most mechanical jobs is now being done by robots.
The robot is able to carry a tray and brings food to your table following a white line painted on the floor. The cheery chap greets you with a “Sawasdee Krup” (which is how I know he’s male) and was higly entertaining to all, including those who’s jobs he was performing.
The Thai suki restaurant announced last year that it would begin employing robots in its stores in 2011 and now they have. Does this mark the beginning of a trend for the restaurant industry? “Whilst it’s only serving food now” an MK employee told us, “they will soon be able to take orders too”.
The robot’s are still currently quite high maintentance and need to be followed around constantly by a human but it might not be long before each MK restaurants require considerably less staff.
