I haven’t lived in Bangkok for about 4 years so things have probably changed, but here are some of my favourite restaurants, and a couple of unique ones:
Fun / Good for Dinner
Khun Tong 2020 – This is north-eastern Thai food but with more of a dinner, fun atmosphere. You cook your own meat on a small barbecue. Definitely the place to go for a proper Thai style dinner – https://goo.gl/maps/nLJ9zk3xqhp
Secret Garden – Great place for thai food in a garden atmosphere. https://goo.gl/maps/K1VrijMRh1J2
Nadimos – Fantastic Lebanese Food in a nice setting. The nicer one is Sukhumvit – https://goo.gl/maps/Az4Pe5Fdb122 but the Silom one is also nice – https://goo.gl/maps/BcSNnu1X6zB2.
Good Food, but more of a lunch atmosphere
North East Family – Check this place out, either for lunch or a quick dinner. It’s Food from the north-east of Thailand, which is where I used to live for four years. Make sure you order the papaya salad, or a couple of variations of, grilled chicken, and also the Laap Tod. Also, make sure they’ve got “sticky rice“ in before you sit down https://goo.gl/maps/6BfCbBPKyM72.
Beirut – there are three Beiruts in Bangkok, and the food is great in all of them but the atmosphere and service is medium. There is one in Silom – https://goo.gl/maps/Ug8DHZjZVr42, and two in Sukhumvit – Link 1 – and Link 2
Romantic
Rang Mahal – Very nice Indian. Posh. But you need a window table for the view, otherwise not worth it – https://goo.gl/maps/QDB7YV4oJ652
Na Aroon – This place is pretty unique. It’s vegetarian only, but the food is fantastic. It’s traditional Thai style and very peaceful as it’s tucked away right at the end of a soi. I’m not 100% sure that they have alcohol – https://goo.gl/maps/yrVq3q21u672
Unique
Baiyoke Sky Hotel – Buffet on the 77th floor or so. It’s not super posh but the food is decent and the view is obviously great. https://goo.gl/maps/LtYqXYjUYmp
Dine in the Dark – Eat in pitch blackness. Waiting staff are all blind. Both unique and romantic. Great experience. https://goo.gl/maps/o1Maj4dCb1z
Night Out
Tawan Dang – Huge live music venue but with dinner. Gets loud later on. Great food, great fun – one of the best nights out in Bangkok. https://goo.gl/maps/uNJiei3Csw62
Saxophone – Live jazz – great atmosphere. Try to get a table from which you can see the stage. Link
